St.Nazaire-en-Royans is a good base for non-cycling activities. In the village, you can while away many an hour feeding the ducks, visiting the caves and the aqueduct. The Choranche caves, a few miles from the village, are simply stunning and not to be missed. And the Palais Ideal, to the north of us (see the picture below) is an interesting example of naive architecture, built entirely by one man, a postman, over 100 years ago. The following activities are also possible:
Walking in the Vercors Nature Reserve.
Trout fishing - some of the best in France
Tennis
Horse riding
Climbing
Golf
Relax by the river
Photography
Painting
Running
Tree surfing
It is surprising that the area receives such scant coverage (often none at all) in guidebooks on France. But we're not complaining - it keeps it nice and quiet.
