During the last few years we have discovered several locations where we think it's nice to spend a few days. Some are French run hotels or guest houses (Gites) whilst others are British run.
For example you can spend a few days with us and a few days with Craig and Vicky in Provence (Velo Ventoux) or with Guy and Helyn close to Alpe d'Huez (King of the Mountains).
In 2007 we acquired some small 16 litre bags that clamp onto your seat-pin which are excellent for lightweight overnight tours. We have designed several two-day circuits ranging from 60 to 80 miles a day with overnight stays in guest houses or small hotels. There's also the potential to stay two nights in the same place, with a loop on the second day, or stay in two places. In options are limitless.
This is based on one of our favourite 100 mile circuits which is great for sport cyclists but a bit too much for a fitness cyclist to do in one day. We discovered an excellent place for you to stay and there's a fantastic loop for you to make it a three day trip of 150 miles.
You can do this clockwise or anti-clockwise. You stay overnight on the east side of the Vercors close to the Mont Aiguille; a table-top mountain where Alpine style climbing was first accomplished. An extra day-loop can be added on through the picturesque Drac valley.
